The iconic Wagner's Pharmacy dates back to the year 1922. Found on South 4th Street, it was set up by Leo Wagner who purchased the erstwhile Hagen's Pharmacy. Wagner was employed at Hagen's from his early teenage days. The pharmacy/inn had a humble start as a neighborhood venue frequented by budding writers and jockeys. It took 40 mins to get our food. Bottom of the biscuits were burnt. People that came in 10-15 mins after us, got their food, and had gone before we received our food.
If you're a tourist and want to check this off your list- go for it. It's a little mom and pop lunch counter. Nothing to write home about- not bad, either. It fits the neighborhood well. Service was good. Prices are fair. Solidly good. You could do worse.
Best at what it does. Authentic, down home dishes. Super friendly service from the locals who bring a sense of Kentucky culture and track culture to your table with each drink refill. If you're going to the Downs and you need breakfast or lunch you have to pop in. Plus they have a super cute gift shop with reasonably priced momentous.
We had to wait forever for our waitress to even acknowledge we were there. She was talking to some other women customers,laughing and we didn't think she would ever stop. We were just about ready to walk up front to ask if someone could wait on us; then she daw us looking for someone and then she goes right to a table where someone else came in after we did. It would almost be worth moving to Louisville to eat breakfast here everyday. There aren't many places like this anymore. Good food. Good coffee and great coffee.

Great little place right by the track. Good size portions and you get to watch them make it all...kids liked sitting at the counter watching them.
