The iconic Wagner's Pharmacy dates back to the year 1922. Found on South 4th Street, it was set up by Leo Wagner who purchased the erstwhile Hagen's Pharmacy. Wagner was employed at Hagen's from his early teenage days. The pharmacy/inn had a humble start as a neighborhood venue frequented by budding writers and jockeys. I had the omelet which was excellent. Great way to start your morning having your eggs, coffee and view of Churchill Downs.
RecommendedOh my gosh delicious!!! Loved the history and the funny waitress! Would definitely go back! Omelets are huge! Chili is divine! BLTs are yum! Best biscuits and gravy!
Several friends and myself frequent Wagners at least twice a week. Some of the nicest and best people around for service and laughs. Always good food and reasonably priced can't beat the atmosphere anywhere. Old-school Diner wish there was more like it. Recommend highly if you haven't been there you need to try it.
I love these restaurants that have been around forever with a great history and local following. Had a patty melt which was quite yummy.
