I would not recommend Vonderhaar to anyone. We had them out for a chimney rebuild due to a cracked crown. We picked Vonderhaar because their quote was lower than the others we had received. However, in the end we were out much more money, time, stress, and frustration than I would want anyone else to have to go through. They caused damage to our roof that led to multiple leaks in our house. They did flashing incorrectly and rather than simply re-doing it, they did a poor repair job that had to be re-done by another company. ... read more

Great service from beginning to end, high quality products and everyone was so helpful. I received good tips and information from them and the end result is outstanding. A beautiful wood burning stove that warms up my entire first floor. I highly recommend Vonderhaars and will not call anyone else going forward.
The staff and technicians at Vonderhaar Fireplace were positive and helpful in ordering a replacement log for my gas fireplace, for doing maintenance on my gas log fireplace (which had been installed by a competitor, and in keeping an eye on charges to my credit card when they log that had been ordered was delayed though no fault of their company. I will use them for anything pertaining to my fireplace in the future and would recommend them to anyone!

Very horrible experience from Tech and Management that ended up costing us more time and money. We had scheduled a chimney inspection and cleaning for our newly purchased home and we relayed to the person scheduling and the tech that our fireplaces flue was stuck. The tech wrenched on the dampener handle until the cast iron handle broke off, then proceeded to ask us to borrow a crow bar which I was hesitant to do, but I figured he was the professional. We apologize for any inconvenience. Dampers do get jammed and on occasion break. This could be because of debris, rust, and over time not using the damper. After speaking with tech he had mentioned that the old stove was not up to code and that you were not looking to get it up to code. He was attempting to pull the pipe apart to clean. If the customer would like to have one of the management team to come and look at the fireplace, we will be more than happy to review the situation in person.
I chose Vonderhaar Fireplace, Stove & Masonry for my recent chimney rebuild because they have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, many favorable online reviews from past customers, and are even recommended by other contractors. On occasion there may be delays because of other projects and weather. A lot depends on the actual project and what labor and masons are needed. We apologize for any delays. We usually receive a call from customer and one of the partners will get involved if there is an issue.
Contracted with Vonderhaar Masonry on 3-15-17 for chimney tear down, and forwarded 25% deposit. Waited a week to hear from them and received no response. Called them the beginning of the second week to see where I might be on their schedule, and was told I was not scheduled as yet. Asked them if work could possibly be done the second week of April, and was told they would try to schedule for that week. Our contracted work is done in the order we receive the contracts. We try to get the jobs done as efficiently as possible but weather comes into play during the spring that does not allow us to pinpoint dates for jobs to be completed, We are doing hundreds of masonry jobs every year and have multiple crews working on projects. We cannot stop one project to start another unfortunately because of the extensive set up and tear down required when dealing with masonry. I was especially taken with the very positive experience that I had at Vonderhaar's. They were friendly, explained everything I asked about and went out of their way to make sure I knew everything about the product(Big Green Egg). When I need a stove, I will go there.
