My grandmother was under this provider’s care and was supposed to be on continuous anticoagulant medication due to a known DVT risk. The doctor declined to refill her anticoagulant, despite repeated requests. There was no safe alternative, no temporary supply, and no clear plan to prevent interruption. As a result, she developed another DVT, was hospitalized, and is now no longer eligible for surgery. I can’t say enough good things about these people. My father was dying many states away and the Vitas team was so good at keeping me in the loop with his care and how he was doing. The feeling that he was in good hands helped me so much during a difficult time. I am very grateful to these compassionate people for helping my father to die with dignity.
Diane, their nurse who'd been doing hospice for 20 years, as she told me, happily killed my only son, 38 years old, like you'd put down a stray dog. My brother passed prematurely due to a morphine overdose administered by Vitas Ft Meyers Home Health nurse, not solely from the effects of his cancer. While he was terminal and had merely days left, what happened should never have occurred. This review is specifically for VITAS in Fort Myers, Florida.
