Entirely too many issues to list. My family member has now been without an operational call button which the staff is well aware of for over 24hrs now . It is obvious that over the years brookdale west end does not see patient safety as a top priority !!!
Be WEARY of Brookdale West End. The staff are terrific ( in spite of the tyranny of the charge nurse), but the facility is unfortunately, poorly managed. 1. Residents who are hospitalized and absent from the residence are by contract, supposed to be credited back their time away after the first 15 days. They DO NOT automatically credit you. You have to physically REMIND them, even though THEY called 911 and are aware of a resident’s absence. Only then you may receive credit in the next couple of months. 2. I recently moved my wife from Brookdale West End to a secure memory care facility nearer my home. During her years stay she received exceptional compassionate care from the well trained staff there, particularly the CNAs and assistants who I observed on many occasions demonstrating affection and kindness to these helpless souls that melted my heart. I had a wonderful visit to Brookdale West End. I found the associates to be warm, friendly, and engaged with the residents. A gingerbread decorating activity had a lot of residents celebrating the holidays! The leadership in the community is strong and professional. I took a tour of thier construction area for the Brookdale Crossings Program- it looks AMAZING! Beautiful community with beautiful people.
