poor maintenance, horrible office staff SLUMLORDS when we moved in, we were told that the lights only needed bulbs to work, after installing new bulbs, many of the lights still didnt work Ceiling fan fell down during our stay, stove leaked gas, smoke detectors stopped working and their solution was to just remove them from the apartment, leaving us with no fire safety!!! Maintanance man is very nice but overwhelmed, takes the office many calls to get him out, than more calls to get him to return. You will have to leave many ... read more
AWFUL Avoid VA Lee at all costs!! The first apartment that I lived in with them was cheap, large and close to campus, therefore it looked good on paper but actually living there was awful. The ceiling in our bathroom caved in and when we asked them to fix it it took them three weeks to come in, and after they fixed it it caved in again. This pattern repeated itself multiple times, for two months they were constantly in our bathroom from 8 in the morning to 6 at night only to have it fall in again. eh. Apartments have great location and reasonable pricing. However, the management is not very good. The actual owner seems too busy to be concerned with renters problems. The girl at the front desk is unorganized and never answers the phone. And the maintenance guys seem to have too much work to handle. Its a full time job trying to get their attention. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
DO NOT RENT FROM VIRGINIA LEE I wish that someone else owned these properties, because our apartment was really big, close to campus, and open. However, there was a huge insect problem, it was filthy when we moved in, and the maintenance requests usually did not ever get fulfilled. The ceiling at the top of the stairwell literally fell in over a year ago, and they still have not fixed it. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE To anyone considering renting from VA Lee Properties, I urge you to seriously reconsider. This has been, by far, the most unpleasant living experience that I have ever been through. Honestly, if I could choose to give zero stars, I would. First of all, the apartment was in terrible condition when I moved in. It wasn't even cleaned, there were broken appliances, major water damage, and other problems. Excellent customer service! We are renting an apartment near the VCU campus for my daughter. We have needed to request maintenance visits several times, and they have always been very prompt in responding and thorough in taking care of problems.
