I will never, ever forgive the nursing staff in postpartum recovery for their egregious mishandling of my newborn and for all of the cascading interventions and trauma that stemmed from it. They didn't burp her, they BEAT her, and then acted like the vomit they had just beaten out of her was indicative of mortal danger requiring that we starve her, stab her with an IV, and rush her out to Fairfax for immediate extensive radiology studies and possible surgical intervention. We had an amazing experience with VHC’s OBGYN Physicians Group, the VHC Labor & Delivery team and the VHC Postpartum team. Our experience at the hospital spanned six days due to managing a pregnancy complication, so we got to meet many of the doctors and nurses - they were all incredible, kept us informed of our risks/benefits/alternatives at every decision point, and provided practical and emotional support as we navigated becoming new parents. I did not feel supported at all by my Vhc OB/GYN group throughout my pregnancy. When I had a startling test result and symptoms at home, I was told that there was no room to fit me into an appointment and I try to find different ways to accommodate for the lack of their available appointments and no orders or tests were sent to me. I absolutely do not recommend visiting this hospital. My wife was scheduled for a C-section at 12:00 PM, but unfortunately, since that time — and it’s now 2:35 PM — not a single nurse has come to check on the patient or provide any update regarding the surgery
