Vic's has everything you would need as a drummer, from random pieces of hardware you can't find anywhere else, your sticks the other stores don't always stock, odd sized heads you can't find anywhere else, every cymbal you could want, a wall of snare drums that are actually tuned properly (unlike the other big box chains). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. If you're a drummer in Chicagoland, Vic's is a must. if you're a drummer from out of town, Vic's is a must visit.
Bad customer service. They don't return calls after leaving several messages on the status of your $300 instrument I left for repair. when I finally spoke to someone I was told I'd get a call soon. waited, never did so I called again. finally got a call a few days later. The price I was told was double of what I was told it would cost. I decided not to have the work done. I would never recommend this place to anyone who needs repair done on an instrument.
Vic's is everything that a music store should be, let alone a drum shop. Their staff is not only the most courteous and knowledgeable that I have encountered, but they are just a great bunch of guys, and they just get it! My experience was fantastic, and even though my drummer son and I live in Boston, we are Vic's customers from now on. Rock on my brothers!
Yes but... I went there to try some new sticks that they did not carry. They mostly carry the top 4 big brands that every other shop has. They recommended a pair of Promark oak sticks. I used them this past weekend and the nylon tip broke off after 15 minutes of use. They told me it must have been a fluke pair of bad sticks and to just come in and buy a pair of Vater sticks. If you like drums, you'll be in heaven here. What more can be said? The staff is wonderful. It's almost like Disney World for drummers!!! Just go!
