Best Food Market on the Westside – The way markets should be and are no more. Corporate behemoths like Ralps, Safeway, Whole Foods, etc. need to take lessons from this place. Great selection packed into a relatively small space which by the way, is the only drawback. Independently owned, it is obvious when you walk in the door that every employee takes pride in what they do. Old fashioned butchers that are clearly masters at their trade. Vicente Foods is a Great Market Cooks and Chefs think this is one of the best markets in town. Aside from superb produce the market caters to its customers by ordering special items and stocking them in the store. Vicente Foods has a great selection of baking chocolate sold in bulk, a great deli and bakery, Dr. Bobs ice cream and many hard to find selections along with normal grocery items. Anyone who calls this a convenience store has not stayed long enough to really understand this market.
Local high-priced grocery store If you live in the Brentwood/San Vicente area, there are two grocery stores within easy walking distance: Whole Foods and Vicente Foods. Vicente Foods has a better selection of regular grocery-store fare, but its prices are easily as high as Whole Foods on most items, and it seems that nothing is ever on sale. I've taken to walking the extra mile and a half to Ralph's, which has the added advantage of being open 24 hours.
Half Market / Half Convenience Store This is a small grocery store with convenience store prices (i.e., almost everything is more expensive than at, say, Ralph's). They carry just about everything but due to space constraints there isn't much variety in the selections. Deli in back of the store has the best roast beef sandwiches, though.

Then hark back to the good ol' days with a neighborhood market that brings small-town charm (plus friendly service and incredibly fresh food) to the big city. The only drawback?
