Personal care We gave Dexter the best 16 years a best friend could hope for. Part of the reason he lived such a long and healthy life was the care you(Dr. Smith) and Staff gave Dexter. Thank you so very much for the personal concern you(Dr. Smith) showed in your care of him.

In the rare times that Emerson was ill you always explained things thoroughly and were a calming presence. Randy Sunshine is a excellent Vet but I do like Dr. Sunshine a great deal. He is qualified .I do not although care for the practices of VCA. I have found that the charges are very high when compared to other vet's. With 470 clinics nation wide they should have lower costs you would think. I would return to Dr.Sunshine if he was not associated with VCA. With my experiences with his staff I have found them to be very rude at times. They need to be schooled in customer service. Best animal hospital VCA Rotherwood is by far the best veterinary office in the Newton/Brookline/Cambridge/Boston area. I have three dogs who have been seeing Dr. Tamara Kremer Mecabell since 2009. Each of my dogs has their own special issues; Dr. Kremer has always been sensitive to their needs, recommending the best treatment to make sure that the dog fully recovers. Terrible! Unprofessional! They don't care about your pocket book! Do not go there! My wife and I are cautious of having our bill padded every time we go to 'any' doctor, dentist, or veterinarian, so we always ask what the charges will be at the time of making the appointment. In this case, we asked VCA what the charge would be to drain our dogs glands...they said $33, and I asked what the charge would be if the glands weren't the problem and they would have to diagnose something else...they said it would be an additional $44... read more
NOT for Ferrets I had taken my ferret to Rutherford animal hospital and she was horribly- and I mean HORRIBLY misdiagnosed. The doctors are nice and friendly, but between the 3 doctors who had reviewed her case-I cannot believe what a bad mistake was made. Basically, my ferret had a very bad cold-with flu like symptoms. They put her through a lot of testing and had her stay at the hospital; which cost me thousands for a few days. They were nice to me and to her, but from their analysis of the tests, they said she had cancer.... read more

Rude and possibly dangerous business I took my dog into this vet because I found a worm in his stool. I went in to see the vet tech with my dog and was informed that my dog needed all of his shots. Fine, I love my dog and if he needs his shots, I'm happy to get them for him. I wasn't sure if he needed the rabies vaccine, but the tech assured me rather brusquely that, "our records show that he needs his shots." So, I got his shots.
