I cannot say enough good things about my experience with the Vascular Institute of the Rockies, especially Dr. Barbara Melendez. I came in for evaluation and treatment of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and from day one, Dr. Melendez and her entire team were exceptional. They moved quickly to get all the necessary diagnostic testing done and made sure I understood every step of the process. Dr. Melendez is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and clearly in this field for the right reasons. She has a straightforward, no-nonse... read more

Visit itself was fine and professional. Before having the vascular ultrasound, I asked what would be my cost if I went through insurance. I was told without insurance I'd probably pay around $400 and that, while they couldn't give me an exact number, they recommended I go through insurance. So I did. My visit was in October 2023. In September 2024, I get a bill for $134. Why it took a year is beyond me, I'm sure they wouldn't reciprocate that much time for me to pay them. But I paid it. In April 2025, 1.5 YEARS after my appo... read more

After two years of seeing close to 20 different doctors trying to figure out why I was in so much pain, and many of them telling me nothing was wrong, the team at the Vascular Institute embraced me and my injury and got me back to a place where I can continue to pursue my career and greatest passion as a professional dancer. They did not rush or jump immediately to any conclusions, but carefully diagnosed me, laid out my options, and gave me their educated thoughts and guidance while staying patient while I decided which rou... read more

After over a year of dealing with relentless arm and shoulder pain, numbness, and no answers despite every test imaginable through multiple orthopedic doctors, I was finally referred to Dr. Melendez—and that’s when everything changed. She brought something back into my life I hadn’t felt in a long time: hope. Dr. Melendez quickly diagnosed me with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), something other doctor's mentioned but didn't have the specialty in. She didn’t stop there—she ordered further specialized testing, confirmed I was... read more

Update: I received an mri of my neck which shows fluid build up and cystic changes along my anterior scalene muscles. It just reattached down where the first rib used to be, my neck is painful- I am consulting with a top tos surgeon to fix this mess that robbed my a year of my life so far. See attached photos of the mri. Barbara Melendez states it shrivels up and atrophies. Also that the surgery would not make my condition worse, surely it made me worse. She comes off like an assuring car salesman. Only thing is she is down ... read more
