My experience with Vanguard Dermatology at 1855 Richmond Avenue in Staten Island was one of the most horrific experiences I have ever endured as a 10x survivor of cancer. Never have I been so appalled by their careless behavior when I had a breathing convulsion during surgery. They did not have a nurse practitioner on call in case of an emergent matter. I went to see Dr.Romano.He was great.The time waiting was not long at all.He was so nice and made me very comfortable.The girl at the desk was very friendly and went in to as the Dr.a question for me.I will tell anyone who needs a dermatology to go and see Dr.Romano.
Find a different office and another doctor to get help from. These people are unprofessional. In my first visit, I didn't even get to see the doctor, the person who saw me didn't do a proper examination, was in a rush to be elsewhere, didn't want to be bothered at all. Second visit never even happened. After waiting for over a month for my appointment (specifically to see Dr. Shapiro) upon showing up for my 9am appointment I was told by the receptionist it would be at least a two-hour wait. Don’t even bother wasting your time and going to this horrible place , the wait time was over 2 hours! And I came on time for my appointment. Girls who help the Dr were pleasant , but they don’t guide the Dr which room to go to. So he may see patients who came after you, and instead of telling him who he should see first they let him do his thing. There’s no order, this place is a mess and very unprofessional. Save yourself time and find another Dermotologist.
On Friday, November 11, I had an appointment with Micheal Shapiro from Vanguard Dermatology to check out my acne. My appointment was called for 1pm so I left work earlier and cleared my schedule for an 1 and half. More then enough time to see and be at the doctor. When I came I was greeted by rude and obnoxious receptionist. They quickly asked me for payment- which I said I have insurance. Made appt w Dr. Shapiro but was not seen as receptionist did not confirm insurance information when i made appt a week prior. I wasted time to wait to be seen yet without valid explanation receptionist let people see doctor who had appointment after me. I'd recommend this practice to hire competent employees. I was not seen by M.D.
DON'T GO HERE! This place is a scam. The people are fake, the doctor is fake. Everyone is rude and treats you like garbage, even though you're the patient. If you only have to wait for an HOUR, consider yourself lucky. I had to wait for 3.5 HOURS before I got to see the doctor.
