I adore the art gallery. Its the place where all things funky start and stop. Much respect to this institution.
I really enjoyed the opening for the Italian Masters and the curators tour for the Cezanne exhibit. I've never spent this much time in the art gallery, ever.
Living in Vancouver I remember the Lions and the fountain most of all. The permanent collection if Emily Carr.....
What a waste of time and money - not one piece in this entire gallery was even what I would call art...just a bunch of crap displayed as if it were a treasure.
If the Vancouver Art Gallery featured the Cosmic Ashlar, I would add two extra stars for sculpture and visual art… visual binary.
My only regret is that I couldn't spend more time there!
Not the kind of art I like, but a great staff. Super friendly. I got there about 1.5 hours before they closed Monday afternoon, and the admissions lady let me go in for free on Tuesday. She was very lovely.
