My husband and I took the ferry to check out Bremerton having never been to the Seattle area. I wanted to get my hair trimmed, but had never been to a barbershop. They were happy to oblige and during casual conversation with my stylist we discussed my bouts with cancer and chemo and her mother's as well. At the end of my cut, my stylist excused herself for a moment and came back to tell me my cut was free since I'd gone through chemo. I have a patron of Uptown for several years. At first it was a matter of convenience because the shop within walking distance from my apartment at the time. But I quickly struck up a relationship with Kellie, who is now the owner. The shop is a popular place 4 military and civilians like me. The Vintage barber chairs and equipment stand in contrast to the young and cheerful staff. I have learned to trust Kellie with my difficult and uncooperative cowlick.
