I know results vary at any ER, but I just got sent over to Mercy from an urgent care for blood tests, and they were really efficient. The one doctor, Alejandra, was very empathetic and thorough. Both her and another doctor were great. I was in and out pretty quickly. I’ve been to a few emergency rooms in the area for different issues, and I’ve had the best experiences and staff interactions at Mercy.
The amount of nonsense I saw at this hospital last night was ridiculous. First of all, there was most likely a mental health patient in a bed in the hallway strapped down, screaming "AMA". On what level of professionalism is it okay for a nurse or doctor to scream back in the patient's face to stop screaming all that did was taunt, as well as agitated the restrained patient ! Go anywhere else. One star as they did keep me alive, though I believe that to be incidental. Their negligence and inability to listen has delayed my care multiple times. First UPMC McKeesport misdiagnosed me with a UTI when I had a massive obstructive kidney stone, ruptured ovarian cyst, and bladder cancer. Disorganization among departments delayed treatment significantly. But the ER was extraordinarily incompetent. It was nice.
This place doesn't even deserve any stars. I went in with extreme body aches, horrible migraine, nausea, chills, chest pain, and about to go unconscious from a bad reaction to mixing medication. I was completely brushed off and it took 4 hours for the doctor to come in and when he came in he was extremely unprofessional and talked to me like a child that was being dramatic.
