I went to UW years back and I have continued to come to this clinic because of their consistent great service. The same people have been working here for years and I always feel like they really care about me and do a very thorough job. Dr. Hovander is very patient, understanding, courteous, and nice. He listens, answers questions well, and doesn't rush through my appointments.
I went through a couple of eye exams and I lost my nearsighted vision for a few hours because of the eye pressure test. That felt pretty gnarly. But the doc said that my eyes were healthy so that was a relief.
It was a free exam for me because of my insurance although the frames seem kind of costly so I may have to consider getting some from Costco instead but the prescription that the doc wrote up for me is good for two years so that was very helpful.
All my family and friends have been going to Dr. Hovander for years.He is the best and does a great exam. He's not a very chatty guy, so if your looking for conversation, maybe this is not the place...
Dr. Hovander was recommended to me by a friend who once had a detached cornea, and she was very particular about her eye care. I've been seeing him happily for 15 years now, and even after I moved to Canada, I returned again recently, because I've never had a doctor so patient and focused. When I'm there, I never expect a cell phone to ring or for him to be distracted, which is not very common.
Dr. Hovander is the most thorough optometrist I have ever seen and I've been wearing glasses/contacts since I was a kid. He is patient, friendly, and detail-oriented. I should add I'm a particularly crappy patient because I often can't tell or change my mind about whether lens 1 or 2 is better. I also saw Richard for contact lens fitting even though I told him I planned to buy my contacts online cheaper. He was fine with that and took just as much care in my fitting. I drive from Snohomish to University vision clinic . I am 56 years old my last doctor fit my contacts wrong and could not figure out my Problem. Well the team at University did. they really know what they are talking about and are very professional . I also purchased glasses, once again very knowable staff I am very happy I highly recommend this clinic to anyone that wants to deal with people that don't lie and really 100% know what they are talking about. rip-off – ok, two specific problems that my husband and i had when we came in for the basic eye exams: 1) after paying a boatload of money just for the exams (as previous reviews also state), we got the prescription but didn't even get the values for pupillary distance to order our glasses! that's complete crap. now we have to go to a DIFFERENT clinic just to get that number! 2) during the visit my husband was found to have an infection in the eye. the visit was rescheduled by the doctor for the following week. we were charg... read more
most thorough and friendly eye exam ever – I've been to a lot of optometrists and have never had a more thorough exam. Dr. Hovander is extremely kind and soft spoken and explains everything he's doing and what he's looking for. I had tests done that all of my other optometrists neglected to perform. Also, I'm a horrible patient because I have a hard time telling if lens 1 or lens 2 is better and I feel extremely guilty about it.
