This is an awful company shady business practices. Basically couldnt spend money to send a stamp for a bill but sent the will certified mail a month later. How ***** just so they could charge late fees and other associated fees. Owner is rude so employees feel its ok to have the same nasty unprofessional attitude. This is the only company so its not a franchise so you expect a little more gratitude for being a customer because I could go back to the big company that treats their customers with more respect and has the money ... read more

worst customer service. They will not call to let you know that you have a late fee instead they want to collect as much money as they can. If there was a zero star I would pick instead of a 1 star.

I cancelled a policy with them when I sold my vehicle. I followed their instructions and went to the dealer, to file paperwork stating that the contract was cancelled due to no longer having the vehicle. I was told everything was taken care of. However since then I have been charged two more installments. I would not recommend this company.

Business response:

We do not show that you have ever contacted our office to tell us that you elected to cancel your warranty or that we should stop the automatic payments. A search of our phone system shows that you called our office on 8/9/2021 and spent 1:17 in our automated phone menu, however you did not choose a menu option to speak to a representative. Please see our FAQ published on our website regarding the instructions that you did not follow: http://www.thezeroplan.com/customers/account-service/cancel-policy.phpPlease remember we do ... read more

Business response:

While we are sorry your experience did not meet your expectations I do want to set the record straight that in fact your charge did not go thru and the fees were warranted. Mr K**** you moved and did not provide a new address to us which caused the charge to fail. I have emailed you a copy of the actual denial.

Universal Lenders are a RIP off they charge you these outrageous fees for being late I owe them $150 in late fees and they charged me $225 more in late fees because they sent me certified letters in the mail and they also charge you some ridiculous fees for collections. Do not ever buy a warranty from them.

I was told there won't be any convenience fee if I setup my payments via credit card by car dealer, but I did receive $4.00 convenience fee. Universal Lender had no intention of returning the fee to me and was very rude about it.

Business response:

While I am sorry there was a misunderstanding about the convenience fee we did offer you multiple payment options that do not have a fee when you called our office. In order to limit misunderstandings the agreement you signed has a warning in bold type for the payment option you chose that there was a convenience fee added. By reading the document prior to executing you could have questioned your selling dealer at that time about the fee.

When I opened this account at the dealership I was not aware that this goes on your credit as a personal loan.

Business response:

It seems the negative review should be directed to the selling retailer who did not inform the customer that payment history would be reported to the credit bureaus. When the loan was opened we sent a welcome letter to the customer that discloses this process. We will notify the retailer to be more informative in the future

I overpaid in error and they are now charging me $15.00 to refund my money! I spoke to the manager I believe his name was Tim and he was very arrogant.

Business response:

While we understand no one wants to pay fees the efforts required on our part were a result of errors made by the customer and not us. We feel a $15.00 fee is reasonable to correct the customer's account and reimburse us for those costs associated with the correction.
