I recently moved here 3 years ago from San Francisco. Late one night in hells kitchen, I was invited to come sing on sunday by one of the pianist. This by far is my favorite place in Manhattan. I have never had a bad experience. The bartenders are friendly and welcoming. Its also hard to find a cool gay dive that doesnt judge you once you walk in the door. Uncle Charlies is a magical place.
Come on a Wednesday from 5:30-9 and sing with Karen Brown. She is so generous. At 9, if you can still stand up, Jaz comes on. He doesn’t sing himself and there’s opportunity to get up to the mic. He can play anything in the key you request. He just looks it up in his iPad. Generous drinks. No food. Oops
