Another kidney transplant center were you will die before you get a kidney offer from them just like the Miami transplant center they give there kidneys to who ever they wish with caring about your place in line my husband lost more than 3 years of his time in this transplant finally they kicked him out with a real reason that would make sense so people don’t waste your precious time with this center.

They saved our daughter’s life. She was born with a heart defect that left other hospitals telling us to put her on hospice. The team at Shands accepted her as a transfer and saved her. She received a heart transplant at 6 months old. We spent eleven months in the CICU with her and worked closely with everyone on the transplant team. We put our child’s life on their hands and they delivered us a miracle. We are eternally grateful. I agree with some of these other reviews. Shands lung transplant dept has this great reputation supposedly. However, earlier this year they took on my husband as a "transplant candidate" at 70 yrs of age. He's a Vietnam Vet with pulmonary fibrosis from toxic exposure during his 2 tours of duty. Test, after test, trips to Gainesville from Melbourne to no avail. In my opinion they took the VA's money knowing full well he would not be listed. Age being one the "risk" factors. This may not be the appropriate place, but I cannot find anywhere else where I can review my experience with the UF Health transplant team, especially Dr. Abass (I believe that was his name). My experience with the lung transplant team was horrendous. My father, who was 75 when he passed, suffered from IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). He was an INCREDIBLY healthy man for his age in all aspects and the surgical team would agree, he just suffered this one strange condition. I am fighting for my husband's life. He has ESLD. We have been trying to get him on the list for a year now. I contacted Shands twice through their website contact us form requesting info and appointment. I NEVER received a response. Thanks for nothing. Poor patient care. So very disappointed.
