I would say UCLA extension is a "crap shoot". It really depends on the instructor you get. So, for anyone considering it, research the instructor as much as you can. Read their online reviews and try to get as much info as possible to see if they will be a good one. I've taken 2 writing courses and both were good. The same could not be said about the Egyptology coarse I took awhile back. The instructor was uninspired, boring and made no sense. UCLA Extension is such a money grab, especially for international students. For me the international fee was more than the actually tuition fee (9k just in fees) And what’s worse, until I requested it removed everyone in Canvas could see other students enrollment including anyone on an F1 visa status because of a mandatory F1 course which is a serious breach of student confidentiality! The marketing professors are wonderful. However the administration staff is awful. I signed up for classes in May paying thousands of dollars out of pocket, being told I would be reimbursed 8 weeks after classes started. Now it is November and I still have not been reimbursed from an education award I received. The finance department does not answer their phone and an email response takes days to get back, barely anyone is working in the actual office. I will NOT be going back. A fundamental problem with the program is that its marketing is misleading. It was advertised as accessible to "all levels," yet the content was entirely unstructured for beginners and demanded a pre-existing familiarity with the subject. This left inexperienced students behind from the start. Furthermore, the material itself was clearly outdated and misaligned with current industry standards.
