RecommendedWhen I think of SOAR, I immediately think the word, "safe space". The SOAR center provides plenty of resources, but with such a large campus, I truly believe it is difficult to foster a particular safe space. RecommendedThe Soar Center is one of the greatest places on campus because it provides many resources such as computers, study room, and food. I met so many people in the Soar Center and I never felt so welcome. I am really glad as UCI students we still have this center on our campus! I can wait to spend my last two years at the soar center and still meeting new people and bond together. Thank you Soar for making it my home too ! ZOT ZOT ZOT !

RecommendedWhen I first came to UCI, I really felt like an odd ball because I didn't fit in very well with my hall mates nor my peers. Discovering the SOAR center was like finding my own niche where I could be myself surrounded by passionate, like minded people who wanted to make a change in the UCI community.

RecommendedThe SOAR center is definitely a big part of my undergraduate experience and I would have to define it as one of the resources that has shaped what I am passionate about today. The issues that they address, on-campus and off, has strengthened my value system through their workshops and their affiliate organizations. RecommendedI would like to start of saying that without the SOAR Center, I no longer would still be a student at UC Irvine. This center helped me with finalizing my appeal so that I can still receive financial aid for the upcoming year due to not meeting the Academic GPA requirement. The thing that really makes the SOAR center continue to aid others, such as myself, are the diligent, empathetic, and just awesome staff members of SOAR. RecommendedSo usually when I need to find a place to study on campus, I go to the SOAR. I like to go because every time I walk in, I'm usually welcomed by the friendly staff! Some of the really cool things is that while I study for my exams, they'll some times have snacks or scantrons available for the students. (which is pretty great because I really like to snack while I study lol) And because of that, I really feel like the staff there really care about us being well prepared, especially since the materials they have are free. RecommendedI never thought I would get involved with the SOAR center nevertheless even place any attention to it. This has clearly changed for me. I realized that it is a very useful and critical center for our campus. It is welcoming, caring, and definitely carries a great concept of outreach for higher education and retention to keep our students in school.
