Extremely bad Pulmonary Care at UCSD. Took 10 months to get an appt for COPD. Doctor barely listened to lungs and told me no need to listen to heart. No changes to meds and had to beg to get chest xray. Acually told me I did not have COPD even though I was diagnosed over 30 years ago and on medication since that time. Only then after getting an abnormal chrst xray that I had to ask for was I taken seriously and prescribed medication. Doctor scheduled follow up for 11 months This is unacceptable care! I cannot believe the trials and tribulations I've had to deal with in this department. No other UCSD medical department I have dealt with has been so disorganized. Several time's have they either messed up an appointment. They have let my referral lapse due to their scheduling incompetence. After several months of waiting just to get an at home sleep test that was marked as inconclusive, I had to wait further several months for an office sleep study where a scheduling error required that I get a new referral to reschedule. My mom was referred here for COPD and low oxygen and serious memory issues, and the process has been unbelievably frustrating. I spent countless hours on hold trying to confirm they received her referral. Every time I finally reached someone, I was told they couldn’t find it because they had “a hundred faxes since last Thursday.” This was on the following Monday. Eventually, someone suggested I call my mom’s referring doctor and ask them to fax it again immediately so she could try to pull it directly from the machine. In 20... read more

Very helpful. We came here after years at Rady's hospital. My son has extensive medical needs, especially pulmonology. The doctors here are knowledgeable and caring I feel like we are in good hands
