TW: Loss After a partial molar miscarriage with UCSD and weekly hCG testing until just weeks ago, I now cannot get in touch with a doctor or any provider at UCSD OB. The system feels like a fortress. My experience with the UCSD midwives was unfortunately disappointing and far from the supportive, holistic care I had hoped for. Throughout pregnancy, the midwives continually dangled the “birth center” option as something I could easily lose. This approach felt more like pressure than support. I had the best postnatal visit with Dr. Driebe. This is my second child and the visit was completely different than my experience w/ my first child. The care felt much more holistic. Dr. Driebe was friendly and listened to all my questions/ concerns without rush. She checked for ab separation, we talked about pelvic floor strength, if PT was necessary, she evaluated if I was contracting correct muscles while trying kegels (one of my concerns)- all in addition to breast exam, talking through birth control options, and how I w... read more
