I left this program feeling extremely confused about my care. Throughout my time in the Adult Program, I struggled to get clear answers from my treatment team about my diagnoses or overall treatment plan. At one point a mood disorder diagnosis appeared in my medical notes from the program psychiatrist. However, when I tried to discuss what that diagnosis meant in therapy, I was told it was not something I should focus on and that I likely did not have bipolar disorder. This program was terrible for bulimia treatment. The "family therapy" method devolved into me receiving punishments for nicotine use because I was not practicing any ED behaviors such a binging or purging while in treatment. i felt so trapped, i was getting treatment for my eating problems while being told I wouldn't be allowed to return to New York (my home) unless i quit nicotine. I spent 7 months at this treatment center for ARFID. Many have said that this treatment program is not good for patients with ARFID. Let me share my experience with you. The first couple months, I felt I was in the wrong place. I couldn’t relate to a lot of the things that most of my peers were experiencing such body image or desire to be a certain body type.
