It sucked.
I called from West Virginia to check on my mother. I was told she was discharged. I checked with my sister who said she should still be there; they had more tests to run. I called back with her room number and was told again that she was discharged. My sister and I spent the next 2 hours trying her house and cell phones, trying to contact local people who might know where she was, and we were finally trying to decide between calling our other sister who lives 45 minutes away or calling the police to check on her.
