With art-deco charm well in place, the wooden interiors and comfy booths make Truluck's extremely inviting. Given Truluck's 'commitment to crabs', no one doubts the restaurant's long standing relationship with seafood. The tiger shrimp, Brazilian pacu fish and virtually all of the appetizers come in large portions. To narrow down the array of entrées, pick from the salmon and flounder. Truluck's also serves steaks and chops but if you're at a place known for its seafood, why crawl back to land??

If they have restaurants in heaven, Truluck's would be there....
My first time and it was awesome! Atmosphere was beautiful, food was delicious, staff was very nice and attentive. Shrimp was small but tasty! Definitely will return!!
Business response:
Thank you for joining us, Hilda. We are glad to hear your first Truluck's experience was a memorable one and we look forward to your next visit—Cheers!
We came without a reservation and the place was full. They still accomodate us (four people) pretty quickly. We received great service and the food was excellent. I had the Chef's Filet medium rare - I strongly recommended. Had a Baked Alaska for dessert - delicious!
Business response:
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Melissa. Great choice on the Chef's Filet and Baked Alaska—cheers!
This was our first try at finding a fine dining establishment in the Austin area, other than our favorites, e.g. Perry’s and Ruth Chris, since moving to the area a few months ago, up from Sugar Land, TX. everything was outstanding, atmosphere, food, and entertainment. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating. They asked you if you needed anything, before you could ask.
Business response:
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind review, Allen. We enjoyed reading about your experience and are glad to have guests like you in Austin. We look forward to your next visit—Cheers!
We had just arrived in town after 2 hours on I35 tired and a little hungry. The relaxing atmosphere, great piano man, and friendly staff especially the beverage manager, Chris, and our bartender, Emma, were awesome. She even told us about the specials right before time expired! We had both the hot (breaded, fried shrimp) and the cold (cocktail) shrimp appetizers. They tasted great and were definitely enough for both of us to share.
Business response:
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, CarolineAnthony. We are glad to hear your long travel day was closed out in the most relaxing way possible with us and we hope to see you again soon—Cheers!
Service 10. Food 6. Such a disappointment for the supposed #1 Austin restaurant. Previously had an off the charts great experience at Eddie Vs, rated #2. WRONG. Sent the lobster bisque back. First time in 100+ servings. Red Fish Ponchatraine was passable, but rice underneath was more like risotto. Crab fried rice went back, as it couldn’t compare with Eddie Vs. Sautéed spinach was dull. Eddies was exceptional. That said, Service and ambience were great.
Amazing! Came all the way from Wyoming to eat dinner and couldn’t of been an happier with the service and incredible food! Yes the Steak melted in your mouth!!! We will be back!!!!! Don’t forget to get the brown bag dessert, it’s like nothing you have never had and worth every cent....
