Dr. Vargas botched a bunionectomy and proposed a fix for this by going back in and using a bone graft from my heel to fuse the bones in my toe. I went to a physician in the same system-Twin Cities Orthopedics, which he said was not enough compression in the technique Vargas used, and fixed the problem without needing to do a bone graft. I gave Vargas and TCO feedback on my dissatisfaction and never heard back from them. TCO is big on evaluations, but apparently does nothing when a complaint is filed. Vargas indicated that wh... read more

He was great. I felt heard and he was very knowledgeable. He made me feel heard and even though he was very busy I still felt like he took his time with me. Poor guy kept getting sick though so setting up an appointment with him was difficult. I saw someone else in the mean time because I couldn’t get an appointment with him. That person was awful so I went back to setting up an appointment with Dr Vargas.

I met with Dr. Vargas as I was having issues with my big toe due to an old injury. He gave me non-surgical options and when those didn’t totally fix it, I opted for surgery. Very happy with surgery. I already have better range of motion after 2 weeks. Dr Vargas was professional, attentive and extremely competent. I highly recommend him and wouldn’t hesitate to go to him again or send friends to him.

Business response:

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! We're glad you had a great experience with us!

I was having issues with plantar fasciitis and all he wanted to do was 'cut the nerve' and kept saying 'I love to cut the nerve.' Got a 2nd opinion from another podiatrist and she said she doesn't like to do that surgery because 70% of the time, PF will come back. Luckily, I found a sports med chiro who worked on my feet and had me back to walking with no foot pain in 3 weeks. Vargas is so incredibly arrogant and could care less about what the patient wants or needs; he just wants to do surgery.

Dr. Vargas did surgery on both of my feet. One is improved, one is much worse. Dr. Vargas has grandiose narcissistic tendencies. He spent most of my appointments talking about himself. I'm sure I know more about his hip replacement than he knows about my previous surgeries. At one point I told him we had not discussed something in a previous appointment and he invented an entire appointment where I came in solely to discuss that issue. Considering how easy it is to confirm that with medical records, it was concerning he woul... read more

Went in for surgery to alleviate chronic ankle pain and gain weight bearing on the inside ball of my foot. The Dr. was planning on doing three procedures to accomplish that. During the operation he decided that one of the procedures wasn’t necessary, so he skipped it. Because of this decision; I have zero weight bearing on the inside ball of my foot. (Which is supposed to have 40% of the foot’s bearing!) So all that weight is on other points and causing additional pain elsewhere. It was also one of the main reasons I opted f... read more

I had surgery with Dr. Vargas almost two years ago on both feet. One turned out great, the other he corrected some of the issues and created a new one. When I went back a year later he discovered that one of my toes was still broken and another surgery would be needed to fix it again! He made the comment that for patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis he leaves the pins in for 6 weeks instead of 4 (he knew I had RA as well as other health problems and pins were left in for 4 weeks). Then he just started talking about my next sur... read more
