Does not listen to patients nor family members with issues or concerns. Had a bad reaction to prescribe meds. Called his office for 2 months and when I got a call back, told me to go to the ER. Over prescribed insulin at a high dose to near fatal. Learned from other ER physicians how manage insulin intake and monitor blood sugars. Hard to receive feed back from him in person in office. He just types notes and no says 5 words. Laziest endocrinologist. He's just there for a paycheck. Transfering to new endocrinologist.
Very knowledgeable about diabetes. Lacking in interpersonal skills. Does not appreciate the challenges T1D face daily. No backup if he is not available.
My husband has been seeing Dr Barrera for over 10 years. He is simply the best. He is the most prompt at responding with any questions or medicine needs when using the app to send messages. He never makes you feel rushed, takes time to listen and truly cares. Outstanding at helping my husband manage his type 1 diabetes and my mother in law with her thyroid. Highly recommend!
