High rating well earned – We arrived at 5PM (opening time) on a Saturday without reservations and couldn't get a table. However, you can order at the bar, which we did. We ordered the fried spinach and calamari appetizer. A bed of fried spinach topped with fried calamari covered with shaved parmesan and asiago cheese. A lemon wedge on the side to drizzle on. Simply the best. – Trattoria Marcella is just about everything an Italian restaurant should be. It maintains to keep the feel of a humble neighborhood eatery. But from the moment you walk in, you can tell these people take the food and dining experiences they sell very seriously. The food is, quite simply, second to none. St. Louis Secret – This is possibly the best Resturant in the St. Louis area. Difficult to get weekend reservations, suggest calling 3-4 weeks ahead, but is well worth it. During the summer the cold soups are outstanding.
Maybe they had a bad night – I went on my birthday and the Risotto tasted like rubber bands and my date's chicken cannelloni was extremely salty. There was a baby at the table next to us, which was about 16 inches away. The service and wait staff was exceptional, but they must have been training a new cook.
Incredible – So good words can't do it justice. Even the coffee is perfect -- exactly the right temp for consumption.
Not the same old Italian food! – Although you will rarely be able to dine here without a reservation, it's worth a little planning. The food is very well-prepared and not the same old Italian food covered with "gravy".
Mama Mia's fav – Any true Italian deserves to experience the excellence of Trattoria Marcella. It is the perfect place to delight in the tastes of Italy and the service of their expert staff.
look at the other ratings – compare to the other restaurants' ratings in this price range--you'll find 10's mixed in with 2's...not so here. it has only one so far below 10!!! for the money-no question, trattoria marcella is the best. SERVICE excellent. FOOD and WINE-excellent call for reservations way in advance!
