Talk to your plumber about insulating your pipes this winter to prevent the possibility of burst pipes. He or she can help you determine where your water supply lines are located and insulate both hot and cold pipes in those areas.

Here's a quick way to stop a toilet from overflowing. Quickly remove the tank lid, and then reach down into the tank and press the flush valve closed. It will close the opening in the bottom of the tank and stop the water.
