On April 1, 1981, Dr. John Hammons bought an existing veterinary practice and opened Town & Country Animal Hospital. Dr. Hammons practiced large animal medicine along with small animal medicine until 1988. The farm animal portion of the practice included farm calls, haul-in facilities with hospitalization capabilities, and stockyard testing. It's been many years now but Town and Country took the very best care of my cat Cruetu. I will never forget how they treated her. She was 16 yo when I took her there. I had just moved to Decatur and didn't have a vet yet. A friend recommended. I took her their thinking it was the end. They treated her and changed her food. She lived heathy for another 4 years! She was 20 years and 5 months when it was time. I will always be greatful for their professionalism and compassion. 💕

Wow I can not say enough praise about this place .. we had to take our toy poodle for emergency visit on a Saturday the staff including the wonderful lady who answered the phone as I was panicking and on my way .. was absolutely amazing .. and the Dr and nurse was incredible.. very clean and up to date office will be going here from now on ..
After battling for almost a year to get my German Shorthair Pointer’s skin cleared up, we decided to try another vet. On the first visit, Dr. Edgmon diagnosed him with Demodex mites and set up an action plan. In a few short months, he is clearing up and feeing much better! We are so pleased with the staff and facility! I would highly recommend this vet hospital to others!!
Everyone was super nice. Dr. Hammons was very straight with us regarding the prognosis for our dog. The entire staff were very caring during a very difficult time.
I love the staff there. Everyone is so nice and helpful.
