First off I`m very picky about who works on my vehicles, I took my 2007 Ford Escape to Ron and his team to check out a trans problem it was having . He came to the conclusion after performing the diagnostics that I did, the trans needed a rebuild. I was very impressed with his expertise about this transmission, he recommend upgrades and updates that would further prolong the life of the trans . I had a wonderful experience here that began with my 1st phone call. Bonnie provided me with excellent service. My coworker recommended this shop to me. My son's car broke down and we thought it was the transmission. They towed the car and looked it over and told me it was not the trans. They set me up with a mechanic and towed the car there for me. The service here is top-notch! Bonnie starts off the good feeling with her kind voice and willingness to help. I brought my 97 explorer here thinking my front end was shot. They let me know I just needed a new shift and I was back on the road for much cheaper than I thought. I recommended my boss to bring his 2003 explorer in and they got his trans rebuilt and got him back on the road. Last week I brought the 97 back for trans problems. Put a clutch in my car and worked perfect. I would recommend them.
After having some issues with my limited slip differential, I thought I was going to need an expensive rebuild. I visited Total and they were familiar with my problem and suggested changing out the fluid and replacing it with a fluid specific to limited slip systems. The fluid change solved my problem and instead of spending $1000 or more, it cost me just $75.00. These guys could have said I needed a major repair but they didn't. My experience at Total Transmission & Gear was extremely awesome. The staff was very helpful & understanding. I had my car checked out for transmission issues and they were very honest because I took it to another shop before and they told me I needed a new trans and I didn't. I would recommend anyone to go here for an honest opinion and great service! I give them above 5 stars.
Total Transmission in Woodhaven did fix my vehicle in the time frame they said. They did the job. However, they did charge me for the towing to their shop. According to their advertisements in the yellow pages, towing is free with a major repair. I would think a total transmission rebuild qualifies as a major repair, nope! Went in to get trans maintenance. They took great care of me with great hospitality. They did a full diagnostic. I ultimately had them change trans fluid, filter, as well as Transfer Case fluid. It appears to per like a kitten now. Thank you for your honesty and taking care of my vehicle. I know many trans shops that seem to have a policy that all transmissions need work.
