TOI On Sunset

4.5

About this business

Toi on Sunset has been around on this part of the Strip for more than two decades. A popular spot for locals to visit before they hit the local bars and clubs, but need to fill up on some Lard Nar or Tom Kha soup. The music is always rock and the walls are covered with rock paraphernalia. The food is traditional Thai, with flavorful pad Thai noodles, stir-fry vegetables, spicy Thai noodles, spicy shrimp soup, fried rice and more. There are plenty of vegetarian choices and prices are low which make it even better.

Horrible Thai Food – Don't get me wrong the feel of this place is fun esp. for sunset and after hour eats, but that is the only time i would eat this food. It was the worst thai food i have ever had. I would not recommend this place for a great Thai food restaurant.

Sucks beyond words... – If you're a true Thai food devotee, don't be caught dead here. I mean, come on, can you trust a "Thai" food joint that makes its pad thai with spaghetti noodles? Take it from a Thai national, any recommendations you get for this place comes from misled, naive, and taste-bud lacking inidividuals. Try Palms, Sanamluang, Talesai for a true experience.

pad not-so-thai – i think the high ratings are probably more backed by the aesthetic impression the place leaves on the patrons - strip away the music, the posters, the cool props, and the ratings would likely dip. the food is just not all that great or authentic - though, i guess, they are saved by the sign in the window: "thai-american food." there must be a reason why they're open until 3 a.m.; i'm guessing they're catering to all those sunset blvd.-loiterers after a night of rambunctious "partying." and we all know how "... read more

The Best after 2AM (or any other time) – This is American Thai at its finest, more flavors rather than overblown spice... their Thai Iced Tea is to die for, the Tom Yum Goong is superb and the best dish of all "Crab Fried Rice" is orgasmic... I have taken every tourist visiting town there and they loved it. Rock and Roll atmosphere without the Hollywood attitude, the servers are friendly and look nice too. If you have $30 for a dinner date this is the place to go to, it does not hurt that they are open until 4AM everyday.

Good vibes and no MSG – Cool wait staff, music is always great and best of all, this place (and all the other TOIs ) DON'T use any MSG. I know for a fact that most others in Thai Town definitely USE MSG.

don't go Toi !! – Exceptioanlly mediocre! Why go to a place like this with Palms Thai, Ruen Pair, and Sanamluang right down the street? The Toi Thai in Santa Monica is equally bad. I will never go back to either one.

Excellent Pad Thai !!! – This is a not so ordinary thai place, cause it has a rock and roll feel to it, which doesn't make you feel like you're in china or thailand (like most other thai places). Highly recommend the pad thai with shrimp. Get the fried bananas for starters, really good. Its open till 3-4am, so usually go there after clubbin on the weekend.

Declining? – The first time I went here, I was impressed. But the charm wore off. I've since been at least two more times, and the Pad See Eew I ordered grew progressively more flavorless each time. I'm not sure why I kept ordering it, or--better question--why I kept going back. The atmosphere is cool, I guess.
