Tip Top Cafe was a let down. My family ate here while we were vacationing in San Antonio. I had done a lot of research, trying to find out where the locals ate, and this place kept coming up as great. I must have missed something, because we were not impressed at all. The large stack of onion rings the people at the next table over ordered looked good, but they should have for almost $10.00!

The Standard for CFS The Chicken Fried Steak at Tip Top is the best you will find anywhere. It's cheap and there is plenty of it to make you feel beyond full. There is always a line but it seems to go rather quickly, as they have thier system pretty down-pat. THe salad leaves something to be desired and parking can be a pain during the lunch rush, but who cares? It's the best CFS in town and worth any and all inconveniences to eat there.

Great food and great atmosphere
We stopped for a late lunch today and were surprised to learn there is an extra 20% “Covid surcharge” on all menu items. The service was good, but the food was substandard, so for loyal customers to get hit with an upcharge just for giving you business at a time when every local restaurant needs customers seems outrageous. ($33 for one piece of fish, fries and a side salad, cheese enchiladas that came with no sides and two teas was simply ridiculous.) We won’t be back.
Good food but adding 20% to your meal is ridiculous. Restaurants are going thru a tough time but so is everyone else. Some more than others so just pushing this on people is nuts. Won't be going back and thats a shame because the food is good.
