Dr. U. Smith really messed up my teeth. A year later and I am in pain that I didn't have when I first got there. All I NEEDED was a cleaning but I left with UNNECESSARY work done on my teeth. I am in so much pain that I have to see ANOTHER dentist now to figure out what the hell she did.
BEWARE!! UMEKEI SMITH is NOT a good dentist!. Also, this office has funny billing procedures. Instead of sending the bill to the insurance company first and the patient paying their portion, they make you pay on the spot so you end up overpaying, which they will not tell you. If I knew this before scheduling, I would not have scheduled. It should be LAW that providers MUST inform patients of this in ADVANCE. I went to Tidewater Dental DC in May 2025 for a toothache and was told I needed a crown. UMEKEI SMITH also recommended an inlay on a different tooth that had NO ISSUES AT ALL. The entire crown process was very stressful; my gum ended up getting infected and swollen. I returned about six times for adjustments (each time they charged me), but the original pain never went away. These reviews are false in my opinion. Never ever deal with Dr Smith she is incompetent and when she put in a temporary crown other dentist were baffled by how she installed it and the material spread . When I was in so much pain, my ears, nose and throat were in agony. As soon as it was removed. Having it removed took months because they would not answer my calls, when called from a different number they picked up. Turned out they were avoiding me because insurance apartment was submitted in correctly and had not got paid..... read more
