I have had four or five advisers quit or be fired. My most recent one in Denver must be gone; his phone extension is disconnected. No response to my email. No notice from TIAA. Now nothing but a general toll-free number, and we all know how that goes. UPDATE: I have an excellent, nearby adviser assigned to me. It can take months for a planning and advice appointment, but if you plan ahead, it's fine. Day to day issues can be handled quickly by her assistant. I'm more satisfied now.
TIAA customer service from their phone agents is NOT consistent! Their verification process is joke. Some agents text a 6 digit code, some agents ask what cash withdraws are for (I can see this being uncomfortable for a caller), some agents do not ask your filing status etc. Makes me wonder about their staff training and credentials. Phone system also calls clients several times when request is already taken care of. I do NOT have peace of mind that they deal with peoples money.
I've been with TIAA a over 3 years and their customer service is terrible. Good luck trying to get a live person on a call because it will not happen easily. Also, if your company is a smaller company that is with TIAA, don't expect a call back or actual support.
