many great eats on Polk - this isn't one – I've walked by so many times and finally stopped in for dinner for a light dinner. Ordered a few aps, salads and wine. The polenta and pizzas came first and were mediocre - and about 10 minutes after the server noticed they were gone, the overdressed salads arrived. Such a cute place -- just not worth it.
Good Food – I have been to more Italian restaurants than I can count and just happened on this one the other night. The food was wonderful, even their bread was delicious. The atmosphere was nice, but the service was really slow. We were waiting ten minutes before we even ordered wine. The price was affordable too, it was about $10-$20 cheaper then when we usually go Italian.
Overpriced – I would not recommend this restaurant. It is very overpriced for the quality. The calamari appetizer was chewy and the white wine sauce for the special entree was too salty. Aside from the food, the service was pretty good.
Average at best – I have been to Ti Piacera a few times, each time with high hopes, since it's in a very convenient location for me. Unfortunately, each time I find the food average and the prices way too high for what you get. Last time I was there, my salad was overdressed, and my pasta dish was underflavored. I found myself wishing I had gone to a less expensive place, like Pasta Pomodoro.
A GREAT experience every time... – I work on Van Ness and Sacramento and unfortunately there are not a lot of good places to eat in this area, so when I tried Ti Piacera I was pleasantly surprised. Not only is the food excellent (and I have tried almost every dish) as well as very affordable, but the staff is always friendly and attentive and the atmosphere has a comfortable homey feel to it. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is asking for some great Italian food.
Great dining experience – I have only dined at Ti Piacera once, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was fabulous; we had waiters checking on us every few minutes and they went to a lot of trouble to level our wobbly table. The food was terrific. We each had a starter salad, entree and dessert with coffee. My date considered it one of the best cappuccino's he's had in San Francisco. The tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. The restaurant is lovely and the price was very fair for such an excellent meal.
