Three Dots and A Dash

4.1

About this business

Inspired by the Morse code for victory, Three Dots and a Dash was a cocktail drink invented by Don the Beachcomber, the founder of tiki bars, to commemorate the success of the Allied team during the World War II. Owner and mixologist, Paul Mcgee, named his brainchild after this popular drink. Three Dots and a Dash blends together a traditional tiki bar feel with modern elements. The menu features typical rum concoctions like Mai Tai, Halekulani, Pago Pago, Jet Pilot and the eponymous, Three Dots and a Dash. During its openin... read more

Lovely place with wide selection of crafted drinks in beautiful chalices. If you're looking for a relaxing ambience for the night, go for it without thinking any twice! I went there on my birthday and totally loved everything, be it food, drinks, atmosphere. The staff is so helpful and generous. She even offered me a shot for my birthday that was on the house! They have a wide variety to choose from (PS: I totally got confused what to try first 😜) What we ordered : Cobra's fang, Three dots and a dash, yuca frites and spri... read more

This speakeasy has been quite popular in Chicago for the last few years, making it quite difficult to visit without a reservation (or coming in after work hours). However, I was lucky enough to snap a spot at the bar one day. For standing room only, it was a little uncomfortable, but it was all that was available. The drinks were pricey, but you pay for the ambiance and the drink presentation. The bar is completely tiki themed, their cocktails coming in speciality tiki glasses. My mescal-based drink was slightly smoky and ha... read more

We tried Thai fried chicken and king crab Rangoons and cocktails were served in island style fancy mugs which were pretty cool! The place has alot of options for cocktails but very limited food options. Overall Fun place to be on a Friday night.

What a wonderful tradition to have these restaurants all over Chicagoland. I particularly love the Chicago dog and the Italian beef and I have had the chicken Parmesan as well as the cheese fries! It’s all good. You won’t be disappointed for business or family.

This ain't your parents tiki bar - and, like your old man on an out-of-town business trip, you'll be reaching for your empty wallet in the morning as you massage your throbbing noggin'. Amazingly strong (and expensive) exotic cocktails served by some of the most knowledgable booze slingers in the city, all in a kitschy bar located "'round back, just past the Dumpsters...". Order up your drinks and a couple of apps to counteract those hootch-filled drinks - the Coco's Coconut Shrimp (ridiculously overpriced at $14) and the ... read more

You should go for the environment and the drinks. It is fun with a group and you can share neat big drinks like the treasure chest. The food is at best average and rather uninspired. Access is off the alley and signage is minimal.

Super fun tiki bar! It was pretty busy on a Friday night. The drinks are really interesting and pretty! We had a great bartender as well. Unfortunately it closed pretty early around 1:30 am.

My first experience with a speakeasy! It is an underground bar, and carrying an ID proof is a must! (If you are just a tourist ensure you are carrying your passports, and for the locals a valid ID proof will do) When we entered the place, it was pretty packed and we had to Que up for about 45mins before we could get in and figure a place for ourselves at the bar. They are particularly very famous for their weird combinations of delicious cocktails! This place will give u a hawain feel with all the waiters dressed up in beac... read more
