I was referred to Dr Hirai for gallstones. Turned out to be a very complicated and rare condition and required not only a complex surgery but several hospitalizations and multiple follow-up endoscopies. Dr Hirai was incredibly attentive and responsive to my needs, checked on me sometimes twice a day throughout my two hospital stays, coordinated my care with two GI specialists, hospitalists and all team members, called me at home to respond to concerns I had. Dr Hirai is exceptional, careful, passionate, kind, and knowledgeable. He is one of the best surgeons to visit. He gives you the best advice. He doesn't push you to do surgery, if not needed.
