Thistledown on Oak — just go. Trust me. This place is something special. Right in the heart of Hood River — walkable to everything, minutes off I-84 — and yet the moment you step inside, you forget the outside world exists. Overall, this is a lovely boutique rental. The location really can’t be beat, as far as walkability to shops and dining. If the website had more information, I think I would have been less frustrated upon check in. The parking situation is not great. You have to park more than a block away and drag your luggage down the street. Then you have to get a parking pass from inside your room and take it back to the car. Delightful concept! Take an historic building, renovate it modern with shiny new appliances and fixtures, a comfortable bed from this century, and stuff it with antiquities! The access to downtown is superior, the complimentary amenities (snacks) are high quality and plentiful, and the check in process is like a short term rental with door codes and self check in.
