I was disappointed to see that the Managing Editor, Ms. Montgomery, on June 6 went out of her area of expertise to "refute" the political character of the Rebel statue downtown. I don't think she fooled anyone with the pretense that the column was not a direct response to me. I sent her a critique of her column. Basically, she treated a Winchester historical figure as a puppet for her ideas. She hasn't respond to my critique.
