Specialties Established in 1904, The Waldheim is a seasonal Adirondack resort on Big Moose Lake offering the same hospitality by the same family as it did when it opened. We offer three meals a day, daily cottage cleaning, and daily fire making service. We are a place that families can disconnect to reconnect with each other. History Established in 1904. Table made by EJ Martin (who established Waldheim in 1904) for my parents, John and Jean Williamson in 1961, looking good with a fresh coat of Schooner varnish. Aunt Vera and Uncle Ev(EJ’s son) were my God Parents. Pretty sure my dad helped Ev build the hydroplane “Baby Musn’t” which was still in the boat house in 1961 when I was 10 years old.
This is a place to renew your soul. It is still the same wonderful place my parents first brought me to in 1970. The loons singing at night... the rain on the tin roofs... the wind in the pines... the scent of wood smoke... the soft embrace of the wonderful lake water... and nothing to do but relax and enjoy yourself. If you love the rustic North Woods, and you want to get away from it all, this is the place to be!
The Waldheim is an awesome Adirondack cabin resort run by the Martin Family and established by E.J. Martin in 1904! The family is now in the 4th generation with fifth generation in the wings! The food is plentiful and delicious! Big Moose Lake provides all kinds of water sports and loons can be seen and heard daily! Mountains abound for day hikes and small towns like Inlet, Eagle Bay, and Old Forge are nearby for those who like to buy souvenirs! All in all it is a great place to rest, relax and renew in Nature!
It is a very peaceful place. The meals are great and the owners of the Waldheim are 4th generation. I've loved this place since I was a little girl.
There is no place else as special as the Waldheim. I still go with my 87 year old mother, who has gone since she was a young girl and said much hasn't changed. It takes us back in time with extended family. We love the hikes, lake time, conversation around the dining table, a good book, games and catching up with guests from prior years. Getting away from electronics and the busyness of life is wonderful. My kids say it's their favorite week too. I look forward to it all year long. So many times you come back from vacation n... read more
A great family , the Martins, provide a great family home in the Woods on Big Moose Lake!! Thank you all❤️
I used to vacation here as a kid, as did my 86 year old mother. Very little has changed. We now go back as an extended family. My 20 and 11 year old (and I) all agree it's our favorite week of the year. No meals to plan or prepare (desserts were extra yummy this year), hikes every morning, swimming and kayaking in the afternoon, followed by books, cards and games at night. Plus the bonus of catching up with fellow guests and staff while taking in the natural beauty and the type of relaxation that can only come from being dis... read more
