I am an outpatient for the Victoria Clinic. Write now, as I write this, if you call the outpatient appoint phone line, it will tell you that the mailbox is full and any message you leave will not be saved, and then not answer, and then ask you to leave a message. I cannot understand how any organisation, especially one like Victoria Clinic, would not clear out a mailbox for an important service number for outpatients like me and at the same time not answer the phone repeatedly. My family member received a brief text message advising that the clinic would no longer bulk bill. There was no acknowledgement of what this might mean for long-term psychiatric patients, no expression of empathy, and no reassurance about continuity of care. I appreciate that medical practices have to make difficult financial decisions, and I understand that bulk billing may no longer be sustainable. I had a wonderful experience at the VIC clinic, the DDP was really helpful in my journey and the lectures and teachings were relevant and informative. The whole team of staff are wonderful, caring, considerate and treat the patients with respect, patience and compassion. An added bonus, the accommodation is practically luxurious and the food very plentiful and satisfying. The kitchen staff were also very helpful in catering for my dietary needs. A life changing experience. I'm so grateful. The only feedback I would give is for the hospital as a whole to work on improving their support for individual patient chronic physical health problems. I understand this is a place for people with mental health issues but people who struggle physically, still need support too!
