My wife and I are spending the weekend at the Star of Texas B&B (Totally recommend staying here) and The Turtle Restaurant was one of the recommended places to eat in town. It is a wonderful little place tucked into the historic downtown district in Brownwood. The waitstaff were very inviting and the food was very good. The lighting is soft and romantic. If you are ever in Brownwood Texas, do yourself a favor and eat at this little gem!! I sometimes drive miles out of my way to have a lovely meal! The Turtle never disappoints! Cheers to the owners, the chef and the waitstaff for always making the experience supreme!

Normally, I would give The Turtle 5 stars, but this particular meal was less than a stellar performance. I go often enough to know that you should expect to wait (the name "Turtle" was no accident), so that didn't bother me. The waiter was vigilant, helpful, accurate and made tge wait time fly by. The food, usually the shining star of the evening, left something to be desired. I had the duck. It was pretty bland and a little tough. New chef, I guess. It's been a solid 5 star until now.

I am sorry that the duck was not to your liking. I would encourage you to send it back in the future so the chef is aware and have him make it more to your liking or something else. We are always happy to make things right. Thank you for being a good customer.
We went because we had gone once before and enjoyed it. Sat on the patio this time and listened to an awesome Russian band from Austin. Could choose between their regular menu or a special menu of russian dishes. Choose from the russian menu, of course in keeping with the mood. We already told the owner to hold us a table for the next time they do something like that. Was told it would be 2 girls that play the ukuleles.
