The Tremont Hotel, with 130 rooms, offers easy access to Michigan Avenue without the hustle and bustle of the crowds. Built in 1923, the hotel features a sitting room off the lobby with Currier and Ives wall hangings, a wooden ceiling, and an inviting fireplace. The guest rooms include two-poster beds surrounded by pale yellow walls and forest green carpets. For a casual dinner, pop into Iron Mike's Grill, named after the legendary former Chicago Bears player and coach. Another advantage is that the Tremont is only about a 1... read more

Great hotel BUT.. – It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!
Great location, nice staff, awful room – Self Parking is very close, easy to walk anywhere, staff was nice and helpful to us. Room was awful, furniture needs to be replaced its falling apart and the mirror was broken. Bed was beyond hard you could feel the springs and metal frame. Rips in chair and tops of tables were ruined, wall paper was peeling in bathroom and cabinet was in bad shape. Bathroom also smelled like sewer gas entire trip. Windows were very drafty I would hate to stay in winter you would freeze. Pillow also s... read more
Little gem – All the previous reviewers regarding this charming little gem on the Mag Mile should stop in and visit. Although the lobby has not changed, the rooms themselves have vastly improved. I have stayed here several times througout the year and have seen the difference. The rooms are brighter and feel refreshed. The staff at the front desk is great. They are always friendly no matter what they have to deal with. Which brings me to state: when you book a room for less than $100. Are you really expecting the Ritz? I giv... read more
Gold Coast hotel's exceptional location and affordable rates make up for its small, dated rooms. – In Short Like other well-worn Gold Coast hotels, the Tremont's 120 guest rooms and suites sport the feel of a vintage apartment building. Most rooms are European-style, with only a single bed and tiny bathroom. Located just across Michigan Ave. from the Hancock Tower, the hotel provides an ideal base for tourists and conventioneers. Iron Mike's Grill (coach Ditka's classy joint) abuts the intimate lobby, which is decorated with... read more
Worst hotel stay ever – How is this place rated 9.1? Please take the other reviews people have written to heart before considering staying there. There are so many hotels in that area that I see no reason whatsoever to recommend staying at the Tremont. The rooms are small, which I can deal with given that its an old hotel, but the rooms and hallways had poor paintjobs, the place smelled musty, the bed was horribly uncomfortable. While some of the front desk staff were nice one gentleman in praticular was incredibly snooty to... read more
9.0 or 0.9? – How this hotel is a 9.0 I will never know. The rooms are small and dated, the people at the front desk were rude, the shower in my room had tiles missing and looked disgusting. Doe that deserve a 9.0? The location was a plus and it was comfortable , but I would not reccomend it.
Tremont needs update – The Tremont in the top 10 hotels in Chicago? Maybe in 1960, but these days, its rooms are too tiny, and the decor is dated and tired. If you are looking for a so called luxury hotel, you will be severely disappointed here. Right now the main reasons to stay here are cheap rates, proximity to Michigan Ave., and, of course, Da Coach's restrnt. It only costs a little more to go first class-I'd pay the little more.
dirty – The lobby to the Tremont gives the illusion of a fancy and well kept hotel. The front desk staff was extremely professional and polite. This pleasant picture was shattered when I reached the 5th floor and my room. My first shock was at how extremely cramped it was. The ugly flowered drapery clashed with the plaid bedding. One of the curtains didn't open, and the other revealed a view of metal heating machinery. The chair had a stain on it, and the lighting was horrendous! It was so dim I could hardly see across the r... read more
Filthy! – Our room was filthy -- stained and dirty drapes and bedcovers. Walls were dirty, carpet was stained and worn and wallpaper was peeling. The staff was polite and efficient at check-in, but we couldn't get any toilet paper. We only had 1/3 roll toilet paper and 6 sheets of Kleenex when we arrived. Very loud, smelly and terrible view. The only thing going for this hotel is its location. I would never stay there again.
