A Little Gem On Geary street – The Touchstone is a tiny hotel with a friendly, efficient staff in the heart of the theater district. Our room was about the size of a match box, with simple but tasteful furnishings and everything in excellent working order. Little touches, from two-ply tp to chocolate chip cookies left on a plate at the front desk, made our stay very pleasant. I will definitely recommend the Touchstone to friends.
Avoid at All Costs – While the hotel will draw you in with cheap rates, a good location, a quaint facade, and an admittedly fantastic diner next door, don't fall for any of it! The room was clean, but room's fixtures, many broken, suffered from neglect. The single window revealed an air-vent approximately 8x8ft. and went at least 5 stories up, leaving the room perpetually dark, stuffy, and lonely in a great city. A small, family-owned hotel in the theater district. – The Scene The owners of this 42-room, family-owned hotel have lived on the premises for the last fifty years, and they like to brag about the safety of the area.
