Renewed my Fine Homebuilding subscription in January 2022. In February another$74 charge showed up in my credit card acct. I only renewed once. When I talked to customer service, I was told that one subscription was for just the magazine and one was for digital all access. I only placed the one order for digital all access, which allows me to download issues on my iPad. After many years of **** ************ *** **************** I’ve canceled both subscriptions and will have nothing more to do with a Taunton Press. What a sham... read more

We are very sorry for the confusion. *** ***** had originally ordered a Fine Homebuilding online membership that included print in February of 2020, on an auto renewal basis. This membership auto renewed on February 9, 2022 for $74.95. On January 25, 2022 he took advantage of a special 20% offer for 2 years at $75.16 for the print only edition. This extended his existing subscription for 2 additional years. Both the membership and the print edition orders have been cancelled and refunded as requested. Again, we sincerely apo... read more
Fine Homebuilding is an excellent residential construction reference guide, since 1981. With 46 years of construction and inspection experience I still look forward to the latest addition. My compliments to Taunton Press for your pursuit of exceptional journalism.
Business response:
Thank you *** ******* We truly appreciate your positive review of Fine Homebuilding and your interest in our publication.
I have been a subscriber of **** *********** since issue 50. I have ordered books and back issues and currently have an online subscription as well. The magazine is superb; customer service is abysmal. Recently I ordered a book. I received a shipping notice with an incorrect tracking number. My credit card was charged. After 2 weeks with no book I sent an email and received a form response with no new information. They didn't even tell me the shipping company. I sent another email with the same result. I called and was given ... read more

I recently canceled a CC then immediately got an email saying this publisher ‘wants me back’ and shows my CC info truncated. I never ever purchased this magazine (Threads) and the only reason i know they were charging me was this email. How the heck are they allowed to get away with this?! Im not even going to bother to try and get a refund but i never once received Threads magazine, the one they say they want me back for, nor a digital emag in my email. They were stealing from me on top of that i found a post saying a scamm... read more

The account we found using the email address provided is under* ******* *********** There was an order placed on our website on October 10, 2020 for an online Monthly Membership to Threads Insider using a credit card. This membership did include a print subscription. In addition, as stated on our order page this membership was set up on auto renew. We do show that this was cancelled on September 25, 2021. We would be happy to issue a refund back to the credit card for any payments received. We would need confirmation of the ... read more
I tried to sign up for Fine Homebuilding online content in March 2019. I created an account, and could log in, but could not see member content, as was still prompted to subscribe. I gave up on it after messing with it for a while. Turns out, not only did this company charge me a $39.95 membership fee at that time, they did it again on 3/5/20 ($42.65), and are trying to do so again as of 3/5/21. Subscriber beware...they had some amazing content over the years, but this company is inept at online paid content (and that's putt... read more

An email has been sent to this customer to confirm that the membership has been cancelled. A full refund has been issued for all charges toward this membership.
Ordered an archives ******* magazine which is supposed to deliver on USB. I placed the order on January 13, 2021 and as of today, February 11, 2021, I still don’t have it. I was told it shipped and to allow over a month to receive. Really? Tracking is horrible through partnerships******* ****** and shows nothing left their location for weeks. When I called to inquire, I was told it left their warehouse and they firmly didn’t want to tell me anything more than to allow a month for it to arrive. No apology, simply that I need ... read more

We sincerely apologize for the trouble *** ********* had with our Customer Service department. They should have explained that we are experiencing delivery delays due to COVID and weather related issues at this time. Unfortunately, it is out of our control. We can confirm that the package is currently in ******** ** ** it should arrive very soon. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
Let me add to the number of complaints about subscription service with,in my case,**** ************ I’ve been a subscriber since the late 1970’s. My “total access” subscription covers both on line access and the print version. I got a renewal notice for the magazine. When I called to check on that, I clearly told the agent that I did not want to renew, yet she charged my card anyway. Regarding the publication itself, I couldn’t do without it.
******** * I have been an overseas subscriber of Fine Cooking for over a decade. I had just renewed my 3 year subscription. I have not received the latest issue of the magazine and can not find anyone to contact concerning the matter. My subscription was for both print and online. I made use of the recipe box and the options I PAID for. An international subscription is expensive. The total lack of regard for the customers involved is disgusting. There was no warning and apparently no concern for the many long term loyal subs... read more
New owners of Fine Cooking charged my debit card for renewal when I specifically noted I did NOT want automatic renewal. Will attempt to reverse but from what I am reading and what I have attempted so far this will not be easy. Will have to cancel my debit card to prevent future automatic billings. Horrible, horrible communication on sale of magazine. Makes no sense to me if they want to retain subscribers...I'm done with the magazine after 10+ years....and I think they will lose many more customers. Who's was in charge of t... read more
