I'm shocked to see positive reviews as most people living in the Ironstate/Shipyard Complex have endless negative feedback. For high amenity fees, you see very little upgrades to these dated facilities. After 5 years of being great tenants they took away $400 of our security deposit for "carpet damage" when they rip up the carpets between tenants anyways (did it write in front of me at our final walk-through). I have lived in the Sovereign for many years and this terrible management team is why we are leaving. They increase the rents by crazy amounts and now are not including water and sewer in the monthly rent. They are instead sending residents very high monthly water bill and are not providing details on how the bill is calculated. The pools are disgusting, murky water all the time. You can find better value elsewhere in Hoboken.
This review is specifically related to the front desk staff and concierge. Because building management is mediocre at best and sometimes slow or non-responsive. However, the concierge in the Sovereign building is top-notch. Specifically, my experience with Fabian has been outstanding. He goes above and beyond to ensure that the resident experience is a good one and does everything and anything he can to help. Just moved into our second apartment at The Sovereign at The Shipyard and couldn’t be happier with our decision to stay here for the near future! We absolutely love the building, the incredibly kind/helpful staff, and of course, the unbeatable location.
