The Royal Scam had been, by far, my favorite eatery downtown Mobile. A few months ago, the menu changed a little. E.g., no more cheese grits as a separate menu item, another item or two removed from the menu. It wasn't a significant change, but in hindsight I've wondered whether it signaled a change in chefs (I've admittedly never asked). The last two visits have been less than excellent, the most recent of which was Sept. 28, 2019. Both times I had the seafood catch of the day. Great food...ask for Terry...awesome waiter!
Great meal. Great staff. Chef makes really good grits with roasted red peppers. Ask for a fried chicken skin martini. It’s great.

Excellent food and service. Great spicy crab cakes and the special ‘Mahi Mahi with shrimp ‘
OUTSTANDING menu and even better service. Had such a good time, we went back again the very next evening. Highly recommend if you find yourself in the quiet town of Mobile.
