Anyone else would give a 5 but I'm just a traditional eater and the menu had changed so I didn't get Yukon taters and ftendeeloin . The pork rinds , starter ribs , and cheese plate were fantastic . I had county pork chops that were delicious . We had a ton of snack plates . Oysters on the half shell, chicken liver mousse . We had the starter with the lamb fettuccine , I think trout , hanger steaks with mashed parsnips . Service was wonderful . I'll watch for the next menu change to see what summer and spring bring .
Took my husband here for his birthday and I must say food was spectacular! Will definitely go again.
Everything was exceptional. Service, food, cocktails, atmosphere. Down to the kitchen staff working their bums off way past close, scrubbing everything squeaky clean for the next day. The attention to every detail inspired me to step my game up at the restaurant I work at. It was our first of many visits. Date nights don’t come often, so thank you to The River and Rail for allowing us to enjoy such a wonderful evening.
Nexus, Megan, and Kevin made our experience a memorable one. The kitchen knocked it out of the park as expected. Best food and service in town hands down. Happy belly full of thoughtfully-sourced ingredients!

I don't live in Roanoke, so only visit the River and the Rail occasionally. Every time I have eaten there, the food was unique and delicious. They serve things you cannot find in other restaurants and the menu varies from time to time. I would highly recommend The River and Rail!
Loved our first experience at The River and Rail. Food was wonderful! Presentation was excellent! Service was perfect and the atmosphere was very welcoming! We will be back!
